Handbuilding classes – 4 classes

€150.00

Our Tuesday evening classes (handbuilding) are the perfect space to learn, make and mingle. They run every week, and are open to all levels.

Each class gives you space to work on your ongoing projects, learn handbuilding techniques, and connect with others.

We believe there's something truly special about making alongside others. You learn faster, get inspired by watching what people create, and pick up fresh ideas as you grow together. It’s a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the world of clay, with the opportunity to transition into studio membership once you are confident enough with your skills.

How it works:

  • You buy a pack of 4 sessions, and it is valid for 6 weeks. This gives you a 2-week buffer for holidays, sickness, or for those times when things just don’t work out.

  • You can start anytime you like, as the class run every week. We’ll be in touch to confirm your start date.

  • When you're down to your last session, we’ll let you know. You can then choose to buy another pack if you’d like to continue, or stop there.

What to expect:

  • Classes run at a relaxed pace where everyone learns from each other around the table, with the help of our teacher.

  • Classes are tailored to your personal skill level, taking you through the entire process of turning raw clay into finished ceramics: from shaping and slow drying to decorating and glazing. We are here to guide, teach, and help your ideas take shape.

  • For absolute beginners, we start from the very beginning ;) Your first few sessions will serve as an introduction to the 5 most important handbuilding techniques used to make ceramics. After 4 sessions you will have your very own handmade pieces, created using those fundamental techniques, decorated, glazed and ready to use.

  • For those with more experience or who have mastered the basics, the classes are structured entirely around your own preferences, ongoing projects, and creative ideas.

What's included:

✓ Clay, tools, apron & studio glazes

✓ Tea, coffee, and something to nibble on

✓ Firing

✓ Every piece is food-, dishwasher- and microwave safe

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not at all. Our wheel throwing intro and handbuilding workshops are designed for complete beginners. If you have some experience, and want to go deeper, our specialist workshops are for you. All sessions are taught by working ceramicists who love helping people find their footing with clay.

  • A pre-booking lets you reserve your spot before we've announced specific dates.

Once you complete your purchase, we'll be in touch within two to three weeks with available dates based on the availability you shared at checkout.

You confirm the date that works for you, and that's when your booking is set. You can cancel for a full refund at any point before we send you your date options.

  • Clothes you don't mind getting clay on… pottery can be a bit messy! We provide aprons, but be mindful they may not cover your clothes fully. Avoid anything white or precious. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.

  • Clay needs to dry, be bisque-fired, glazed, and then fired again. This takes roughly 2 to 3 weeks. We'll contact you when your piece is ready for collection. We also offer shipping at an additional cost.

  • Absolutely. Our private workshops are perfect for groups of 5–12, team outings, birthday parties, hen parties, and more. Get in touch via the private event page and we'll tailor a session for your group.

  • All workshop prices include clay, studio glazes, and firing of your piece. No hidden costs. The only exception is specialist workshops with guest teachers, where materials may vary. We'll always make this clear in the session description.

Transfers to a future workshop may be possible depending on availability.

Wheel workshops require a minimum of 2 participants to run, handbuilding requires a minimum of 4 participants. If we can't reach the minimum, we'll notify you with as much notice as possible and offer a full refund or the option to transfer to another date.

  • Yes. We run workshops and events in both English and Dutch, depending on who is teaching. If you have a language preference for a specific session, just let us know when booking and we'll always try to accommodate.

  • Our handbuilding workshops are one-off taster, whereas the 4-session classes are where you truly get to learn how to turn clay into ceramics. The perfect path to work independently.

Our workshops are 2.5 hours: that’s typically enough to make 1-2 small items, and only painting them with special glazes when the piece is still relatively wet and unfired.

During the class, you join for 4 weekly sessions where you create as you go and can explore more complex pieces and techniques. You can work on a piece for more than 1 session, learning what it takes to work slowly with clay…then you get to work on your fired pieces, exploring more interesting decoration and glazing techniques.
