Open studio membership

A place to work independently & develop your ceramic practice

Our monthly membership gives you flexible access to a fully equipped ceramics studio. Clay, firing and glaze included.

Think of it as a shared workspace and more: a creative sounding board. A place where you get lost in your own practice, but where you also talk through what you're working on, pick someone's brain about a technique, or get inspired by what the person next to you is making.

We are a community of makers who learn from each other

Coffee and tea are always on, there's always something to nibble on, and every Friday afternoon we aim to wrap up the week with a “vrijdag middag borrel”. It's our favourite part and a pretty good reason to plan your studio time around it.

We love hearing from each member. For example; what glazes to include, what workshops you would like to see, what you would like to improve, and how to make the studio an even better place. As an organisation, that’s exactly what we’re about: surplus revenue flows back into the studio for better equipment, more programming, and wider access for the people in it.

With that comes a shared sense of ownership. We ask every member to treat the space as their own: tidy up after yourself, respect the equipment, and follow the studio safety guidelines. Not because we're going to hand you a checklist, but because a space that works well for everyone only happens when everyone pitches in.

Frequently asked questions

  • A baseline of independent working knowledge is expected for studio membership. You should be comfortable working with clay on your own. If you're earlier in your practice, our workshops are a great place to build that foundation before joining as a member.

  • Open access to the studio during opening hours, use of all equipment (including pottery wheels, slab roller and various tools), access to a selection of studio glaze and clay (stoneware), firing for pieces up to 25cm made at the studio, storage for your work and personal materials, occasional community events, and a 10% discount on workshops.

  • The studio offers designated storage area for work in progress items, bisque-fired items, glaze-fired items and kiln queues. You can collect finished pieces at your convenience during studio hours.

  • Yes. Each member has access to designated storage for personal materials and equipment. Storage is included as part of your active membership.

You are welcome to bring your own clay and glaze after discussing them with Emilie or Marie.

Unfamiliar clay bodies and glazes need to be checked for kiln compatibility and temperatures first and we like to keep kiln accidents to a minimum. Test tiles are required before firing the full pieces.

  • Yes, you can change tiers at any point. The change takes effect from the start of the following month. Just drop us a message to let us know.

  • Memberships can't be paused. If you need to step away, please give one month's notice to cancel. You're always welcome to rejoin when you're ready.

  • Our stoneware will be Bisque fired at 1000 °C.

The stoneware will be glaze fired at cone 6 or 1220 °C.

Special firing temperature can be done in consultation.
