Handbuilding class terms

Last updated on 17 October 2026

These terms apply to all our handbuilding classes (Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning). They explain how passes, payments and cancellations work, so that everything is clear and fair for you, for us, and for the people waiting for a spot.

By booking a class pass, you agree to these terms.

How our classes & passes work
Our handbuilding classes are one continuous class, not a course with a start and end date. Think of it as your weekly spot at the table: you join, you keep coming, and you keep building your skills and projects for as long as you like. You simply pay for your classes in packs of 4.

  • A class pass gives you 4 classes for €150, valid for 6 weeks from your first class off that pass.

  • Those 2 extra weeks are your buffer for holidays, work or illness, so you don’t lose a class when life gets in the way. Classes not used within the 6 weeks expire and can’t be refunded or carried over.

  • Weeks when the studio is closed (for example, the Christmas break) don’t count towards your 6 weeks.

  • Your pass is personal and linked to your class moment.

Cancelling before your first class

  • Changed your mind before your first class? Cancellations more than 7 days before your first class receive a full refund. Between 3 and 7 days before, you receive a 50% refund. Less than 3 days before, no refund is possible

Keeping your spot
Because the class is continuous, we’ll assume you’d like to keep your spot unless you tell us otherwise.

  • After your 4th class, we’ll send you a payment link (or you can scan the QR code at the studio) for your next pack of 4. Payment is due before your next class.

  • If we haven’t received your payment within 7 days of your last class, we’ll offer your spot to the next person on our waitlist.

Stopping your classes

  • If you’d like to stop, just let us know before your 3rd class of your current pass. (If you come every week, that’s about 2 weeks before your pass ends.)

  • You can let us know by email or WhatsApp. This gives us time to offer your spot to the next person on our waitlist.

  • If we don’t hear from you in time, your next pass is due.

Missing a class

  • Can’t make it? Please let us know as soon as possible via WhatsApp or email.

  • No stress: your remaining classes stay valid within your 6-week period. There are no refunds for classes that aren’t used within that time.

Changes from our side

  • Classes need a minimum of 4 participants. If we know in advance that fewer than 4 people can make it in a certain week, we may cancel that class. We’ll always let you know as early as possible.

  • A class cancelled by us doesn’t count towards your pass.

  • If we ever need to change the day or time of a class, we’ll let you know as early as possible. Where possible, changes take effect from the start of a new pass.

Your pieces & firing

  • Clay, tools, studio glazes and firing are included for pieces made in class up to ø22 cm (in height and width).

  • Larger pieces come at an additional cost of €2 per cm above 22 cm, measured in wet clay. Please check with your teacher before starting a large piece. Larger pieces may also take longer to fire, depending on kiln space.

  • Please collect your finished pieces within 30 days of being notified. Pieces that aren’t collected may be recycled or donated.

Photos & social media

  • We love sharing what happens in our classes! We sometimes take photos or short videos during class to share on our website and Instagram. Would you rather not appear on our socials? Just send us an email or WhatsApp message, and we’ll make sure you’re never posted.

Care, breakage & liability
We’re a ceramic studio, and clay is fragile: sometimes things break. We always aim to take good care of the space, each other and each other’s work, and we ask you to do the same.

  • Your pieces: pieces can crack or break while drying, during firing, or when handled. We handle everyone’s work with care, but Wheelhouse can’t be held responsible for pieces that break.

  • Clothing & belongings: clay usually washes out easily, but glazes and some clays can stain. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy. Personal belongings are brought to the studio at your own risk.

  • Studio materials only: in our classes, we only work with our own studio clays and glazes. Please don’t bring your own materials, as unfamiliar clays and glazes can damage our kilns.

  • Using the studio with care: please follow your teacher’s instructions when using our equipment and materials. Making mistakes is part of learning, and we’ll never hold you responsible for that! But if damage to our equipment (such as kiln shelves, kiln elements or pottery wheels) is caused by clear misuse or by ignoring instructions, we may ask you to contribute to or cover the cost of repair or replacement.

  • Safety: working with clay and studio equipment comes with some risks, such as cuts, burns or strains. By joining a class, you accept these risks and agree to use the studio with care.

Changes to these terms

  • We may update these terms from time to time. Small changes, such as clearer wording, are made directly on this page. For important changes, such as prices or how cancelling works, we’ll always let you know in advance, and they’ll apply from your next pass.

Questions about any of this? We’re always happy to chat. Just reply to our email or send us a WhatsApp message (+31 6 8320 4922).
